I think that Gibson winds the best sounding humbuckers in the world.
I have several guitars with Duncan pickups. The Edwards guitar looks like a nice copy.
My point is that a Les Paul Faded or a Studio are 100% Gibson Les Paul guitars but the finish is a bit humble which is fine with me.I love my D-15. He said that a full gloss sunburst Les Paul with binding can take 16-24 hours of hands on time to paint hence the high price. He said that the Faded and Studio models have the same quality of electronics, hardware and lumber as the more expensive Gibsons but the Faded models can be finished in less than two hours and the Studios take a few hours. The Gibson rep told me that the customer should expect to $50 for every hands-on hour of manufacturing in the Nashville factory.
The guitar shop was having a big Gibson event day with deals and rebates and Gibson reps on hand. I skope with a Gibson factory rep at a local guitar shop a few years ago.
